The Board of Health is comprised of 5 members, 1 of which has to be a licensed medical doctor, who oversee the Public Health/Home Health Care Department and the Environmental Health Department. They also have a part-time employee who does needs assessments for Floyd County and they contract with Community Nursing, who makes house calls to residents who have been released from the hospital but still need some care. The board meets 5 times a year or whenever the need arises.
Public Health/Home Health Care is responsible for having numerous clinics throughout the year, such as immunization, blood pressure, and flu shot clinics. Additional information concerning the Public Health/Home Health Care Department can be found under their department link on the previous page.
